Fun Digital Collage

I made this collage layout after seeing one in a magazine. There are lots of fun programs out there where you can do it in minutes. I just decided to do it myself with My Digital Studio. It took a bit of time picking all the photos from the year, but other than that, the layout was pretty simple. One thing I did was make a photo box the size I wanted for most of my pictures and then copy and pasted a number of times. I also matted them all so it sort of looked like pictures laid out on a table.

Digital Scrapbook Layout: Toothy

Hey there!  My daugher lost her teeth last week and I decided to scrap it.  Since we have gone digital, I rarely print pictures, but my mother-in-law still wants pictures.  I do some batch printing, but this time, I'm just going to send my page to her digitally and see what she thinks.

Top 5 Reasons to Take my Fun Mini Album Class

While I started out in and thoroughly enjoy making the traditional 12 x 12 albums, I also take great delight in making  mini albums.  Why?  

1.  They are quick and easy!  The supplies needed are few and you can finish them on the double.  You should be able to make the two albums in less than an hour and a half.  

2.  They are part traditional and part lots of fun.  There are SO many kinds of mini albums to make.  In my class we'll make 2 fun kinds that you can fill with lots of pictures and journaling.

3.  Mini albums make fun gifts!  Your parents, your grandparents, your spouse, your kids, your friends!  Anyone, really.  

4. This is a great way for the newbie scrapbooker to start.  Because they are small, they are not so overwhelming and it will give you a good idea whether you will like this hobby or not.

Scrapping: Hiking Fun

Ooh! Another scrapbook layout. I had this idea and I just had to try it. Do you remember “Serendipity Squares”? Well, here’s a different take on those.  I used up a ton of scraps making these fun pages.  I think they turned out pretty well, though I might move the title to cover the two pages instead of having it on one page.  I think that would balance it a bit more.

These aren't the greatest pictures, but I still loved remembering.  I still loved seeing my girly girls so little and I still loved putting this layout together.  

So, the moral of the story is...if you don't have great pictures, but they make you smile, scrap them anyway.  We DO NOT have to have magazine perfect pages.  Don't let yourself think that you do.  Scrap because of the memories and the smiles those bring.  Scrap because you want to remember the story. Scrap the difficult as well as the happy.  Scrap TO TELL and not just for show.

Scrapping Balloons

Have you ever had an idea that you had to try right away? I did, but the page didn’t turn out quite like I had thought. I had to play with it a bit to get it to work.  Luckily, I didn't waste any supplies when I sort of started over.  That's one of the great things about digital scrapping.  I love My Digital Studio and am learning new things to do with it constantly.  

So while this didn't come out the way I envisioned it, I like the way it is. What do you think?  Will you pretty please with sugar on top let me know in the comment section?

How to Scrapbook: Digital Scrapping

Hi there!

Yesterday I showed you a fun layout that I found in a magazine and adjusted it for my pictures in a traditional scrapbook page. Today, I made a digital page using the same idea, but with different details. I love how it turned out using My Digital Studio.  

One of the fun things about doing digital pages is that you never run out of supplies AND if you mess up, there isn't a mess to clean up or throw away. I've even done some scrapping while IN THE CAR on a road trip!

All of the pieces I used come from My Digital Studio and downloads from Stampin' Up!  It truly is a great piece of software and I highly recommend it.  There are TONS of tutorials on www.mydigitalstudio.net where you can learn all sorts of fantastic ideas.  I'll tell you the steps I used to make this fun, fun page.

1. Open My Digital Studio.

2.  Select Photobooks and Individual Pages.

3.  Select 8x8 square.

4.  Name your project

5.  Go to the Resource Palette and choose background papers.

6.  Choose card stock and then Crumb Cake.

7.  Then choose Punches.

You will do the next three steps over again until you have enough strips.

8.  Choose a square punch and click on it once.  

9.  Stretch the square until you reach the desired length and width.  You can click on it and copy and paste the strips on the page and lenghten and shorten as desired.  Start building your tree.

10.  From the Design Center on the right hand side, choose the paper fill option and find the papers you want.  Here I used Jolly Holiday and Christmas Jingle.

11.  From the Design center on the right, Choose the photo option and click on photo box option.  You can change the shape to circle.  Add as many photo boxes as desired.  Add photos.

12.  Mat your photos (here I chose Real Red) by clicking on them and choosing the mat option from the design center.  Change the mat color.  Choose all photos on this page.

13.  Add the shadow option by clicking on a photo and choosing shadow option.  Choose all photos on this page.

You will do the next two steps over again until you have enough hangers for your photos.

14. Choose Punches from the Resource Palette. Choose a square punch and click on it once.  Shorten and reduce to desired size.  I made them a small rectangle.

15.  Click on the small rectangle and  choose color fill option from Resourch Palette.  I chose  Daffordil Delight.  Copy and paste enought for each photo.  Add to each photo

14.  From the Resource Palette.  Choose Stamps and find Circle Circus.  Choose the stamps that you want and add them to the top right corner.  

15.  Change the color of each stamp to Very Vanilla.

16.  Choose Text from the Resourch Palette.  Type in the text you want in the font you want.

17.  Choose Embellishments from the Design Center.  Click Browse.  Choose Home for the Holidays Embellishments.

18.  Choose the snowfall overlay.  

19.  Add any journaling you want using the Text option from the Design Center.

Scrapping: Do You Scraplift?

When you are scrapping, your ideas probably come from ALL over the place.  The internet generates so many ideas, it is very hard to come up with original ideas, nor do you need to feel like you do.  I rarely come up with my own ideas because I’m just not that creative.  However, I do change things up here and there to make the projects my own.  Scrapbooks, Etc., a fun scrapping magazine actually encourages its readers to scraplift their ideas.  This layout is directly from them.

Scrapping in a Jiffy!

Have you ever been so excited about pictures that you wanted to scrap them immediately, but weren’t anywhere where it was possible? I no longer have that problem since buying My Digital Studio. I can scrap my pages IN THE CAR if I want! Of course, I am NOT driving, my dear, sweet husband is.  

The layout was already in My Digital Studio.  I only had to find the pictures!  I added the Wild Wasabl Script Designer Paper as the background and the Label Punch so that my words would show up on the picture.  Doesn’t it look like vellum?  So easy to do in My Digital Studio.  Just choose the color you like, fill in the punch and change the opacity to 50% or lower.  My words weren’t showing up until I put the punch behind them.  

Go ahead, get My Digital Studio and start scrapping.  I’ll show you a fun hybrid page this week where I printed elements from My Digital studio and put them on a traditional page.  Very fun!

Scrapping: Big Bold Cupcakes Scrapbook Layout

The Big Bold Cupcakes Big Shot dies are so fun and so useful for any scrapping you want to do.  You can use them for birthday layouts and kid layouts.  This is your last day to get ANY retiring accessories or stamps.  

Here’s the list.  You can see everything left.

I want to tell you a little bit about this layout.  Is it the best layout I’ve ever made?  No.  Is it the best layout you’ve ever seen?  No.  However, I still love how it.  

Want to know why?  

1.  I loved looking at these pictures and remembering how cute my little girl was.

2.  I had fun making the the elements and figuring out how to tell the story.

3.  I had fun arranging the pictures.

I hope that you see the theme running through this process.  I had fun.  It isn’t perfect, it isn’t magazine worthy and it won’t win any awards.  I don’t care.  My baby girl is cute and I am remembering her at the sweet age of 2.  

You see, scrapping doesn’t have to be a big production and doesn’t have to look just so.  There are rules to follow that are helpful, but the most important part of scrapping is for you to tell your story in your way.  I will tell you right now there are a lot of famous scrappers whose layouts I don’t like at all because they are not my style.  However, I like my pages and I want to share them with you.  I hope you will share your pages with me some day.  Let me know what you think in the comment section.
