It really was, even if I do say so myself. The rain here is crazy and kept some away, but those that came were ready to have some fun! We had a slide show presentation of pictures from convention, (which they watched 3 times) a neat make and take (shown below) and lots of time to look at samples and the new catalog. There was chocolate and door prizes, too! Sad that you missed it? Don't worry! You have another chance to come to a New Catalog Open House! I'm having one SATURDAY, August 23rd from 1-5 pm. Here's the fun project that we made and will make again next Saturday!
This is one of the new sets from the catalog called Inspired by Nature. We received this at convention along with 3 other sets. Isn't it beautiful?! We learned this technique at convention, of course. You won't believe how simple it is! I inked the cone flowers up in So Saffron. Then I took my sponge dauber and inked that up in Pumpkin Pie and touched the parts that I wanted colored. It's that simple! I stamped off the grass in Always Artichoke so that it would be on the lighter side. The sponge dauber is very versatile and I used it a lot on this project. All the new sets from the Idea Book and Catalog are now DIE CUT. Did you know that? So, I kept the extra rubber and am using it as stencil. I put the stencil over the words and used the sponge dauber to put the color over the words. It makes a nice effect. The Cutter Kit made roughing up the edges of the main image and the word panel easy. You've got to get one if you don't already have one. I used the sponge dauber one more time to add ink around the edges to both the word panel and the main image and voilà, it's finished!
