Instructions

1. Adhere strip of Bashful Blue textured card stock to center of card.
2. Adhere to Crushed Curry polka dot ribbon to card.
3. Stamp Be Mine in Old olive ink on square of Whisper White card stock.
4. Punch out center of heart image with Full Heart punch. Insert Heart Treat Cup and fill.
5. Peel off adhesive cover and adhere Heart Treat Cup to a second square of Whisper White card stock to seal the cup.
6. Punch scallops from Real Red textured card stock with Scallop Edge punch. Adhere scallops to back of Whisper White square.
7. Adhere Whisper White square to card.

17 Heart Healthy Tips

Sometimes February is thought of the month of the heart.  Well, the American Heart Association takes advantage of that to promote heart wellness.  Did you know that heart disease is not just a man's disease, but a women's disease as well?  It is the #1 killer of women in America.  One in three women die of it each year!  You can read an article about that here. 

Real Simple had a great article on 17 simple things you can do to safeguard your heart.  Some are very fun, like "Go with red wine."  Others make sense like "Be honest with your doctor."  Do you have to do all 17?  No, but as one of the items said "Even small changes make a difference."  If you want to read more, you can go here.

Frozen Spider Web

Sometimes you take a picture and it is cool, if you do say so yourself.  In my case it was FROZEN.  We had a huge spider make a web in the front garden.  One day we woke up to a frozen world in Colorado Springs and the spider web was just amazing.  This is the picture I want to scrap next.  I took pictures of the trees as well, but this is so vivid and beautiful.  I'm not sure how I will scrap it, digitally, traditionally or a hybrid.  I think I want to use the Simple Snowflake (#115554) stamp  (which you can get for FREE, by the way, with a $50 order) and perhaps emboss them with Heat and Stick Powder (#100625) and Dazzling Diamonds (#102023).  Perhaps the background will be Bashful Blue and the photos will be matted in Brilliant Blue.  Hmmm.  Thinking, thinking... Can You Resist Embossing?

Yes you can!  Here is a great technique you need to try!  When you do, email me your results and you could be a guest designer on my blog!

EMBOSS RESIST

Directions: 

1) Stamp and heat emboss your image. Allow image to cool.

2) Apply ink directly to the paper (over and around the embossed image) using a sponge or brayer.

3) Wipe the embossed image with a tissue to remove the excess ink.

Variation: watercolor resist

1) Once you've embossed an image, scribble around and over the image using a Watercolor Wonder Crayon, and blend using an Aqua Painter. Wipe the color from the embossed image, and allow to dry completely.

Hearts Galore!

I like my punches because they make putting the card together faster.  I don't really like cutting images out and I'm not really good at it so punches make me happy.

I got a new punch for FREE (love that word).  Yes, you can get this for FREE, too, as it is one of the MANY Sale-a-bration picks.  Boy, you've hit the mother lode with this Sale-a-bration.  There is SO much that Stampin' Up! is giving away, that it's crazy.  

This is one of our newly designed punches, the Scallop Trip Border Punch.  Isn't it so cute?  I had to practice a little with it, but it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I even made a boo-boo on this card, but you can't tell, can you?  Nope, you can't.  I fixed it.   When I first punched the border, I didn't line it up quite right so that the last scallop was only a half scallop.  Normally, that wouldn't bother me too much, but since I was going to put it on here for your perusal, I thought I'd better make it look better.  So, I cut off the edged and did it again.  Since it is a little high, I put a strip of Rich Razzleberry at the bottom.  So fun!

I also used the fun Textured Impressions Folder, Perfect Polka Dot, to add a little something to the punched hearts from the Heart to Heart punch.  Layered those on a Whisper White 1 1/4" Square Punch, added some Rich Razzleberry Ribbon and the cute sentiment from the Picture This Level 1 Hostess set in the mini.  So cute, easy and fun.  I even made this up myself.  

Always amazes me when I do that.  Like I said, you might not get breathtaking samples like you will on other blogs, but you WILL get simple, cute, DOABLE projects here.  Don't worry that you can never ever do what so and so does.  Who cares?  Do what you can do and BELIEVE me, you CAN create, even if you need a little help.  So, leave me a comment to tell me you agree.  Or, don't agree.  Or, that you like this project.  Or, that you like me.  Or, whatever.  But BE NICE!  No nasty comments here!

Fun Fun Bird Punch

When I first saw this punch in the catalog, I was not excited.  I thought they could have come up with so many other images.  However, after seeing zillions of fun projects with this punch, I had to have it.  Lucky for me, I got it free!  I had my own workshop so to speak and was able to get it for FREE.  Don't you love the word free?  Not only that, but I got a Sale-a-bration set for FREE, too.  It was so great.  No one could help buying $50 worth of stuff because of the word FREE.  Of course, I NEVER have a problem spending $50 as Stampin' Up! has such high quality, innovative, beautiful, fun stuff!
